Before pounding the ground, pre-plan your trek with some of the globe's favorite running routes — there are thousands of courses in over 75 countries (including Antarctica), so finding one by you shouldn't be hard. Each listing provides the run's mileage and any extra details (hilly, pavement, nature trail), as well as a rating of its overall difficulty and scenery and directions to get to the starting line.
Or if you already have your own well-worn path, map it out and submit it on Run.com for others to enjoy (did someone say race?). Of course you could just use the Run.com maps to figure out the distance of each of your excursions or measure the mileage between two places on foot.
